How to Use Tapping

  • When tapping the tapping points do it lightly but firmly about 7 times on each point while you say the statements and focus on the feelings, beliefs, and behaviors you are trying to change.
  • The point of EFT is to personalize your statements to make them as personal as possible so you simply replace the statements in the examples given with relevant statements that apply to you.
  • EFT is a very organic process so while you can start off using one of the affirmations provided or even a power question, you should articulate the thoughts that arise during the tapping round and tap on them.
  • To measure how effective each round of tapping is take your emotional temperature around the issue or your level of belief if you are working on a negative belief and measure it from 1 to 10. If you are working on an emotional issue before you start tapping think about the issue and try and raise your emotional temperature as high as it will go.
  • Then start the tapping round, and take your emotional temperature or measure the level of your negative belief at the end of each round. Repeat the tapping rounds and after a few times you should find that the emotional response has diminished dramatically and you experience a paradigm shift where your old set of beliefs changes to a more empowering or at least a more neutral set of beliefs about the issue.
  • Keep tapping until the emotional response has been reduced to zero or one you should also find you have a different view of the situation and paradigm shifts have been created.
  • Try and focus on one issue until you feel it is completely resolved but be prepared to note down new issues and thoughts to deal with which can arise in your mind while you are tapping and then work on them separately. This is very common, as one issue starts to clear other issues start coming to mind and you feel you want to move onto that issue.
  • When that happens write it down and make that the next problem to deal with. After you have fully cleared the issue you are tapping on.
  • This can help you isolate the unhelpful beliefs which are hidden below your conscious awareness and change them into more positive empowering beliefs which help you achieve your goals.
